FAQ (copied from WPMU Dev’s Smush microsite)

Will my images break if I cancel?

Not at all! In fact, all the additional savings you get from our Super-Smushing and WebP compression will remain even after canceling. If you’re using the Smush Pro CDN (recommended), it will safely deactivate after your subscription expires, and your images will go back to being served from your server in their original dimensions and format. As for images converted using the Local WebP feature, these will not get removed and you’ll be able to keep the server rules. Note that any additional changes (updates/uploads) will not be tracked.
Keep in mind, we built the Smush Pro CDN to be a one-click solution for the “properly size images” and “serve images in next-gen formats” recommendations from Google PageSpeed Insights, so you may see those recommendations return upon deactivation. You can reactivate at any time to resolve them again.

What happens if I use up my monthly Smush CDN bandwidth? How do I get more?

If you need more bandwidth than your plan gives you, you can either: Upgrade to a higher WPMU DEV plan (5-50GB included bandwidth range), or purchase additional bandwidth from your account page – starting at just US$5/m for an additional 50GB per month. We will notify you when you’ve used up 75% of your limit, so you have time to upgrade before hitting it. If you still happen to hit it, don’t worry, the CDN will safely deactivate and your images will continue being served from your own server like they were before you enabled the CDN. Once you’ve upgraded your limit then you can one-click enable the CDN again.

Does Smush Pro support Multisite and what plan do I need?

Yes! Smush Pro is 100% compatible with Multisite and includes network-wide controls. All of our Smush Pro plans allow Multisite installs.
For those unfamiliar, Multisite is a type of WordPress installation. You can learn more about it in our Ultimate Multisite Guide.

What does Smush Pro give me vs. Smush Free?

There are a number of advanced features you won’t find with the free version, including: Smush Pro’s CDN (serve images as close as possible to site visitors) and the Local WebP feature (serve images from your media library in WebP format – without Smush Pro CDN). Also, since Smush Pro is also only available with a WPMU DEV membership plan, by default you’re getting automatic access to our entire suite of performance, security, backup, and white labeling tools – not to mention 24/7/365 expert support (including live chat).

What if I just want Smush Pro? Can I get it on its own?

It’s kind of a package deal around here (in a good way!). Every WPMU DEV plan comes with a number of pro plugins (including Smush Pro) to help optimize performance, security, updates, backups, white labeling, and more. We’ve ensured our lowest members plan is incredibly affordable and on-par with the normal cost of a pro WordPress plugin. It’s also completely up to you if you want to activate or utilize our other pro plugins and The Hub – think of them as bonus tools that are there if you need them.

Why do I need to add a credit card for the free trial? What if I forget to cancel?

First of all, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you’re covered in that respect. If you’re loving the service and want to stick around after the trial, we’ll use the card you have on file for payment processing… you wouldn’t want to lose the services after all.

But equally, if you want to cancel at any time then just visit ‘My Account’ – it’s super easy.
